Whilst a rising number of people are relying on their consoles for entertainment in the current financial climate there are rumours that the price of games for many consoles could start increasing this year.
In the current financial climate a rising number of households have found it more and more financially unviable to go our and socialise in order to enjoy some entertainment, and many have cut back on going out for drinks, going to the cinema, going for meals, and enjoying the local nightlife simply because of the costs involved in many of these activities.
For many households home entertainment has provided the ideal solution to taking some time out without having to spend a fortune, and amongst the things that are providing this home entertainment for families are the various consoles that are available, such as the Nintendo Wii, the Playstation 3, and the Xbox 360.
Recent reports have suggested that an increasing number of people have been buying new or second hand consoles in the UK so that they can enjoy entertainment at home without having to fork out money every five minutes. However, there could be some bad news for those that are hoping that this will provide them with cheap entertainment.
A recent report has suggested that the price of games for consoles in the UK could be going up over the course of this year, with the recession leading to games manufacturers increasing their prices. Activision is already said to be in the process of increasing prices on some games from £49.99 to £54.99, and there are concerns that other games manufacturers could follow suit. However, one leading games manufacturer, EA, has denied that it is planning any such action.
