The Sony Playstation 3 debuted with an over inflated price compared to the next generation game systems of their competitors, in addition to the high price tag, the Playstation 3 did not offer much in the way of exclusive titles.

As a result, Sony realized their mistakes and has worked to modify a lower end, bargain Playstation 3 model. The drawback to the bargained priced Playstation is that it does not have the capability of playing the older games.

Despite the advancements of this next generation Playstation there still appears to be a few problems that have not been worked out. Even though the Playstation 3 console does offer some exclusives, such as the Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, and Resistance: Fall of Man, they just don't have a whole lot to offer in the area of exclusive games.

Some additional changes from the Playstation 2 include the new control pad; the new controller of the Playstation 3 closely resembles the old one, but with a few exceptions. One difference is that this controller is wireless, and since this new console has Bluetooth, it is possible to connect up to 7 controllers; recharging the controller is done by hooking them up to the system with a USB cable.

Another drawback of the Playstation 3 is that the games available online do not come close to reaching the same level as those of the Xbox system.

Aside from these problems, the Playstation 3 does have several redeeming qualities; the system is quiet, and the games are all in very high quality high definition. This is one game system that does offer a friendly interface that makes it easy to play. If you are familiar with the interface of the older models, you'll have no problems with the new one.

The Playstation 3 also features playback of both high-def Blu-ray movies and DVDs, along with a Wi-Fi and a flash media reader. You also get a 60GB to 80GB hard drive, and HDMI output with 1080p support. Another big plus is free online game play.

Also the Playstation 3 console supports a variety of different types of files, including MPEG1, MPEG2, and MPEG4, along with the system's ability to play CDs. With all of this, the Playstation 3 can actually be used as your main media hub.

Basically the Sony Playstation 3 is a highly desirable system for several reasons, first is its very large hard drive, and of course the console's ability to play the Playstation 2 games.

Another attractive aspect of the Playstation 3 is its graphics capabilities, which are very much inline with that of the Xbox 360.

If you don't mind the price tag, the high-end model is definitely the preferable console, but if you are looking for a deal, the Playstation 3 bargain model is a good option.
