Sony PSPSony PSP Handheld Game Console

After many years of being a market leader in home game systems, Sony finally unleashed its version of the handheld game console, the PSP. Instead of copying others in the field of handheld games, Sony decided to use the same tactic that pushed their home game console so hard; graphically intensive games and great multimedia functionality.

The PSP console has the ability to play games with the same graphic intensity as the Playstation 2, in addition to having the capability of playing music, movies, and even surf the web.

Despite the fact that the PSP games do not have the same innovative quality as those by Nintendo, the handheld game console makes up for this with its, all in one features.

The Sony PSP has a nice, futuristic look; it weighs approximately the same as the Nintendo DS, and it's easy to tell once you pick up the PSP console that it's solid and well built.

One of the most attractive features of the PSP is its 4.3-inch wide screen display that includes 480x272 pixels, 16.77 million colors. The device's control buttons are much like those of the Playstation and are located to the sides and bottom of the screen.

The games and movies available for the new PSP come on small, Universal Media Discs, which are housed in protective cartridges. The games and movies are loaded into the back of the console.

In addition to these features, the PSP also has a USB 2.0 port that allows users to link the device to their PC or Mac, although no USB connection cable is included. You will also find that the Sony PSP has a headphone jack on the unit for use with the Sony headphones that have an in line remote to control basic playback.

One problem that the PSP seems to have is its glossy finish, which does attract fingerprints. When cleaning the prints off of the console you should always use a static free cloth.

Some added drawbacks of the PSP would have to include the fact that the long load time for games and movies can get a little irritating, and to get the most out of the system you will need a fairly large memory card.

The PSP gaming device is pretty much unmatched, especially when it comes to graphics; aside from the superior graphics of this game console, its video capabilities are second to none when it comes to portable media.

Despite this, there is a lot of room where Sony can make improvements with the PSP and users can probably expect to see these improvements in future models.

If you are looking to find a cheap PSP, one of the best places to search is some of the online game system retailers. Since its release, the price has dropped on the PSP console so getting a great deal on one of these systems shouldn't be too difficult.
